Kim Johnson

RELIGIOUS TRAUMA COACH

I am a trauma-informed integrative embodiment practitioner specializing in religious trauma support at The Center for Trauma Resolution and Recovery,

Using mindfulness and somatic inquiry practices, I teach clients and students how to utilize their bodies to connect with their inner-knowing, address past wounds, and build inner resilience. While the hallmark of my space-holding is based in the somatic modality of Focalizing, my approach also draws from my other training in therapeutic yoga, meditation facilitation, somatic parts work and somatic attachment therapy. I often bring in inquiry practices such as Expressive Writing, guided meditation and nature-based ritual.

I’m also a poet, singer-songwriterpiano composer. My essays and short nonfiction have appeared in numerous publications. I post poems & tiny stories on this instagram page, HERE. I also host an online writing-practice community called “Cozy Sunday Write-Ins“.

Selected Certifications

Certified Practitioner of Focalizing (CPF) – The Focalizing Institute
This work is a dynamic somatic approach to holistic healing. By listening to the body’s innate intelligence, clients are led to the core barriers that are at the root of what they’re struggling with. Once these deeper issues are excavated, I facilitate a process for resolution that is as effective as it is gentle. This work is a potent approach to help address trauma, work through emotional challenges, toxic behaviors and more. This holistic and meditative approach is the hallmark of my coaching practice and is what allows me to offer support for clients reporting a wide range of challenges.

Advanced Therapeutic Yoga Instructor
Therapeutic yoga is a gentle, nourishing and accessible way to relieve symptoms of physical and emotional trauma, chronic pain or nervous system overwhelm. Therapeutic yoga uses ancient mind-body approaches to address the unique needs and goals of a whole individual – physically, mentally and emotionally – to find more ease, deeper connection and an overall increase in well-being. Along with training in the physical aspects of yoga, I have specialized training in yoga for chronic pain, yoga for mental health, pranayama (breath-work), trauma-sensitive therapeutic yoga and mindfulness facilitation.

Other Inspirations & Certifications
